Happy Pride Month: Celebrating the History of Pride!

We’re continuing our Pride Month celebrations with this week’s theme: PRIDE! Held on the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the first Pride March was meant to honor those who had fought for queer and trans liberation, and create fearless visibility for the cause.

Now, Pride celebrations are typically celebrated any time in the month of June, and give members of the LGBTQIA+ community—as well as their allies—a time to feel free, supported, loved, and of course, proud.

Here are a few of our favorite books about Pride: what are some of yours?

One Day in June: A Story Inspired by the Life and Activism of Marsha P. Johnson by Tourmaline, illus. by Charlot Kristensen

Pride 123 by Michael Joosten, illus. by Wednesday Holmes

This Little Rainbow: A Love-Is-Love Primer by Joan Holub and Daniel Roode

My Little Golden Book About Pride by Kyle Lukoff, illus. by Michelle Jing Chan

‘Twas the Night Before Pride by Joanna McClintick, illus. by Juana Medin

Big thanks to Putnam BFYR, Penguin Young Readers, SimonKIDS, Random House Children’s Books, and Candlewick Press for copies of these books!
