Celebrating Queer Community Representation for Pride Weekend!

As we head into the last weekend of Pride and Stonewall Day (6/28), let’s take a moment to celebrate the importance of queer stories and making them accessible to all ages.

While biographies of LGBTQIA+ rights activists and coming out stories are important, it’s also vital that young readers see queer and trans characters in all types of stories, from profiles of their favorite pop stars to stories about grief to celebrations of identity.

Just as queer and trans people exist everywhere, queer stories should be a part of every bookshelf, especially in libraries and schools! Having access to meaningful and visible LGBTQIA+ representation gives young readers the means to understand that queer and trans people deserve to be valued, respected, and loved.
