10 New and Recent Books on Women in STEM for Little Readers

Young minds are always eager for new challenges, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education is a phenomenal way to encourage this. However, while children of all genders express interest in these fields when they are young, STEM careers are still largely occupied by men in adulthood. The World Economic Forum found that only 28.2% of the global STEM workforce is made up of women, while data on nonbinary people in STEM alone is scant.

So, on National STEM Day, we wanted to highlight some of the incredible female role models in STEM and awesome books that introduce them to young readers. Please note: While we weren’t able to find any children’s biographies of nonbinary people in STEM, there is a bonus book on this list to encourage young nonbinary kids to become the next great thinkers as well.
