Ivan isn’t like the other vampires in his family: he loves the sun, his friends are all humans, and he prefers a plant-based diet. So when his fangs come in, he’s desperate to hide it from the world so that he doesn’t get sent to vampire night school… especially since that would mean leaving the cute new student, Damien.

As coming-of-age graphic novels go, this one is a standout. Vampirism is used as a metaphor to explore universal middle grade concerns like body changes, fitting in, friction with family as one finds their own identity, and, most scary of all, a first crush.
