This illustrated middle grade novel introduces Feather, who lives in a community struggling for survival against their greatest foe: the surrounding malevolent Forest that threatens to swallow them whole. Yet after a fateful encounter with a stranger, Feather must brave the hostile wilds to recover a precious artifact for her people.

This nature dystopia was a fascinating read, full of suspense and surprises, and I’d highly recommend it for kids who love survival or post-apocalypse stories.
