Hello, friends! Our book today is No More Noisy Nights, written by Holly L. Niner and illustrated by Guy Wolek, a sweet story of a mole who, after moving into a new home, must deal with some unusually noisy neighbors.
The day that Jackson moves into his new burrow, he spends the whole day unpacking, then settles in for a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, he is kept awake some spooky noises coming from the attic! Turns out, there’s a ghost up there who likes to spend his nights “wooooEEEEooo”-ing. After all, what else is a lonely, bored ghost to do with his time? In fact, Jackson finds that his house is full of noisy nighttime creatures, including a boogie monster in the basement and a pixie in the piano! Jackson is being kept awake at all hours, and he needs some proper rest! So how can he help his unexpected new roommates keep quiet during bedtime hours?
This one was cute! There was a fun story, both about being considerate of and understanding towards others. I loved that Jackson never lost his temper, instead choosing to show kindness to his disruptive supernatural roommates, and I especially loved that they then showed kindness to him in return. There’s also a nice lesson about not being frightened of those bumps in the night – sometimes, it just a lonely monster in need of a friend! The illustrations were charming, the length was good, and JJ enjoyed it. This was a likable and unique monster story, and it’s Baby Bookworm approved!
